ICPC confirms arresting Maryam Sanda’s mother

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Wednesday arrested Maimuna Aliyu, mother of Maryam Sanda over fraud allegations.

The spokesperson of the ICPC, Rasheedat Okoduwa, confirmed the arrest of Maimuna Aliyu, by operatives of the anti-graft agency.

Okoduwa told Daily Trust that Aliyu was arrested and interrogated at the Abuja headquarters of the Commission, but did not give details of the reason for her arrest.

She promised that details would be made available at a later time.

However, it was gathered that she is being investigated over allegations of corruption.

It was learnt that she was picked up to shed more light on investigations into fraud allegations that happened while she was working with a commercial bank.

She is already facing charges at a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court over an alleged N57 million fraud.

She is also standing trial at another FCT High Court alongside her daughter, Maryam and son, Aliyu Sanda over the killing of Bilyamin Bello, who was married to Maryam.
